Canadian indie rock band Close Talker focuses on 3rd album titled Lens

Canadian indie rock band Close Talker has made contact with its latest album, Lens, on April 21st via Nevado Music.  It’s the 3rd album from the Saskatchewan province-residing act and it follows up of 2014’s Flux.

Close Talker started out as a four-piece, but in 2015 the bassist and co-founder departed and the remaining members were faced with the dilemma of whether to fold or continue creating music.

Will Quiring (vocals), Matt Kopperud (guitar), and Chris Morien (drums) decided to forge ahead as a trio, performing live and finalizing upcoming album Lens.  The recognition and praise gained for Flux has allowed the members to tour internationally, from their native Canada to the US and Europe.

Lens is both a continuation and evolution of the sounds found on Flux, with the band crafting dynamic, complex guitar and drums-driven sonics and reflective, insightful lyrics sung in a heartfelt, plaintive tone by Quiring.

Often compared to bands like Local Natives, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Deerhunter, Close Talker finds its own groove in Lens.  The band states, “…collectively we all are inspired by the constant and endless pursuit that is music. It can easily become daunting at times, but knowing that we’ll never truly arrive musically and we’ll always be chasing the next idea or song is something that, if you allow it, can be really inspiring.

Close Talker is currently touring Canada through mid-May and is gearing up to tour Europe in the latter half of May and the start of June in support of Lens, which drops in the UK on May 12th.
