The Foreign Resort kicks off Canadian Tour in April

April 18, 2017 in news

The Foreign Resort is one of Denmark’s finest musical exports of explosive post-punk and ominous darkwave, led by singer and songwriter Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen. The band combines the shadowy mystery of The Cure’s Pornography era with a driving production aesthetic akin to LCD Soundsystem. Intricate reverb-enveloped guitar lines glide over Steffan Petersen’s Motorik bass drive and Morten Hansen’s powerful, kinetic drumming, all while Jakobsen’s taut and deep vocal delivery demands undivided attention.

The Foreign Resort is no stranger to touring, having shared the bill with renowned acts like The Raveonettes, A Place to Bury Strangers, Slowdive, Minor Victories, SwervedriverDIIV, The Soft Moon, The KVB, and, most recently, Cold Cave.

The band members have toured the USA relentlessly, addicted to the allure of America’s lost highways. Since 2010, the band has played more than 400 shows across North America and Europe, with performances at several festivals including SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany, and most recently, Canadian Music Week 2017.

The Foreign Resort is now ready to imminently kick off a Canadian tour (with a couple of shows in England) this month and then jump to Europe in May for a run of gigs.  September and November have also already been booked for the band’s continuing European tour.

“She Is Lost”, The Foreign Resort’s latest single, just premiered at Post-Punk Magazine and is the lead track from the act’s upcoming album.   The American Dream EP and “Skyline/Decay” have also been unveiled in the recent past.

“Skyline/Decay” is a cut off the shoegaze/alternative music compilation album Alternative (F)Acts which benefits #RESIST causes like women’s health and civil rights.  The comp is put out by DKFM Shoegaze Radio acting as a one-time record label for this worthy effort.  All proceeds are split between the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood.
